The Chemical Administration acts as a liaison between the
Ministry and the industries
under its supervision. It also receives inquiries from these industries on
topics
dealt with by the Ministry.

The industries under the Administration's supervision include
a wide variety of
businesses ranging from research-intensive firms to traditional industries
such as
basic chemicals. These include intermediate chemicals, biotechnological
production
and various other goods such as pharmaceuticals, pesticides, fertilizer and
cosmetics. Additional industries include plastic and rubber products, wood,
paper and
printing.

The Administration coordinates all aspects of
industry-related environmental issues;
deals with international environmental acts; takes an active part in
municipal
legislation arising from environmental demands and also ensures that the
various
means of assistance made available from the Ministry take into account
environmental factors.

The Administration's activities include assessments and
recommendations with regard
to the Ministry's various means of assistance including: investment,
marketing
assistance, land allocation and customs and protection of local products.

This Administration serves as a source of general
information on industries under
its supervision and specific information on factories, raw materials, imports
and
exports.
