The
CommonSensor is a computerized
irrigation interface that represents an entirely innovative and revolutionary approach to
irrigation. Rather than by the farmer, all daily irrigation decisions are
made by the plant itself which controls the irrigation valve through the CommonSensor.
It constantly monitors the
amount of water in the ground. When this amount falls below a pre-assigned Watering Threshold Level, it opens the irrigation
valve. It closes the valve when the amount of water consumed is made up to.
If the plants consume this water in one day – so be it; if they consume it
in two days – so be it. If it takes half an hour to make up for the water
consumed – so be it; if takes a full hour – so be it. The CommonSensor just obeys the plants; it does not make
any decisions on its' own account. It is just an interface for the plant to
open and close the valve. Current experience shows that plants change water
intervals and irrigation duration quite unpredictably.

Traffilog’s solution is comprised of a black box (the hardware) that is
installed in the vehicle / truck / bus, and combines GPS location services
as well as driver profile analysis and real time remote diagnostics. The
system is able to connect to the vehicles computer and draw all the data and
parameters from it. In addition, they install a G-sensor that measures
the G forces on the vehicle.
Their system is event driven, meaning it
monitors the hundreds of parameters gathered from the vehicle, but alerts
the customer only of events that are of interest to them and that are
pre-defined. The solution is modular and flexible and can be custom fitted
to the customers' needs.
The solution offers 3 main features from which
the customer can choose:
- Location Based Services (LBS): Uses GPS to monitor exactly
where your vehicles are all the time, in real time. You can set
geographic areas that alert you when one of your vehicles enters /
exists and the like.
- Diagnostics: Reads all the data from the trucks’ computer and
is able to send these to the customer - RPMs,
fuel level, brakes, trailer temperature, idle time, etc. This helps in
keeping the fleet maintained and making sure the customer takes
preventive measures to keep his fleet maintained rather than reactive
measures which are often too late and much more expensive.
- Drivers profiling: Using the G-sensor to analyse
the drivers’ behavior. Acceleration, braking, sharp turns, etc. The
system can produce a report to show you who the most aggressive
drivers are. Aggressive drivers cost more because they consume more
petrol, use the brakes excessively, and in general are more prone to
cause accidents which will bare a heavy cost for the employer.
